A crash in Hockley County took the life of Elaine Maribel Martinez on April 17, 2024, around 9:00 a.m. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the 18-wheeler driven by Datyrik Terell Sheppard of Lubbock crossed the centerline and hit Martinez' vehicle nearly head-on.
