John Lee Godfrey was killed in a crash near Liberty, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the crash and indicated that a drunk driver was speeding and crashed into Godfrey's driver side. DPS arrested Colton Scott Iler from Baytown for intoxication manslaughter. The crash happened at the intersection of CR 133 and FM 563.
