A suspected drunk driver was arrested in Corpus Christi for intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault for a crash on Highway 37 at Carbon Plant Road. The crash happened about 3:30 a.m. on August 20, 2023. One man was killed and his passenger sent to the hospital with critical injuries when they were hit head-on by a wrong way driver. Police arrested Alan Mendoza and charged him with intoxication assault and intoxication manslaughter. Mendoza was reportedly driving the wrong way and attempted to flee on foot.
