When the bars close, bad things happen. On Saturday morning about 2:00 a.m., November 11, 2023, Six people died in a downtown Houston crash including D. J. Hayden who was a star football player for the Houston Cougars and first-round pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2013. The crash happened at the intersection of Fannin and Pierce when a Chrysler 300 sped through a red light and crashed into an Acura SUV. Four people died on scene including a bystander. The driver of the Chrysler died and toxicology tests may take weeks to determine whether alcohol was a factor.
