Ambulance driver and EMT killed by wrong-way driver.
Jim Hogg County was the site of a double fatality head-on crash on November 8, 2023. Andres Botello was the driver of the ambulance while Jose Guadalupe Cepeda was an EMT passenger in the ambulance. A truck driven by Jaime Barrera Jr. crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the ambulance head-on. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating. No word yet on whether alcohol played a role in the crash. The ambulance belonged to Victorious Care.
