Drunk driving crash leaves lady seriously injured. On February 4, 2024, about 2:30 a.m. Edinburg Police investigated a severe crash on Chapin Road. Edinburg Police arrested Eliud De La Cruz for intoxication assault after admitting to consuming a lot of alcohol and driving. According to police records, De La Cruz admitted drinking beer, tequila and consuming cocaine prior to the crash. The victim suffered internal injuries and has undergone multiple surgeries. The drunk driving suspect remains in jail on $135,000 bond.
