Mary Cooper, Janet Carter and teen all killed in crash with 18-wheeler.

An 18-wheeler crash took the lives of Mary Cooper, Janet Carter and a teen on July 21, 2023, in Powderly, Texas. The crash occurred at the intersection of FM 2648 and US 271 south of Powderly, Texas.  The Texas Department of Public Safety indicated that Mary Cooper had the right of way at the intersection. The time of the crash was approximately 10:55 a.m. when visibility was good. The SUV driven by Mary Cooper never stood a chance against the 18-wheeler driven by Clarence Fowler.  The victims were reportedly from Oklahoma. The crash remains under investigation by DPS but no charges have been filed yet.
