An 18-wheeler crash took the lives of Mary Cooper, Janet Carter and a teen on July 21, 2023, in Powderly, Texas. The crash occurred at the intersection of FM 2648 and US 271 south of Powderly, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety indicated that Mary Cooper had the right of way at the intersection. The time of the crash was approximately 10:55 a.m. when visibility was good.
