Mariah Desiree Enriquez killed by suspected drunk driver going wrong way on South Padre Island bridge.
The Department of Public Safety has arrested Hugo Lara for intoxication manslaughter in the death of Maria Desiree Enriquez.
Mariah Desiree Enriquez was killed by a wrong-way driver suspected of drunk driving on the Queen Isabella bridge to South Padre Island. Mariah was from Edinburg and was legally traveling east on the bridge which has blind spots on it preventing a driver from seeing a wrong-way driver. Lara was arrested and jailed in Cameron County jail on $350,000.00 bond. No word yet on the blood alcohol level of Lara, but South Padre Island has a reputation for over-consumption of alcohol. If you or a loved one have been affected by drunk driving or over-service of alcohol, please call Texas Dram Shop Lawyer for a free consultation. It is illegal in Texas to over-serve alcohol.
